L.E.F.T.A. provides many benefits that outweigh those found with the traditional manual method of training systems.
|
 |
Information Sharing:
Field Training Officers that have been assigned a new recruit can look up Daily Observation Reports
from previous phases to see how the recruit responded to a particular
training area (i.e. traffic stops, domestic violence calls, missing
person calls, etc.). L.E.F.T.A. also has available “instant messaging” that makes is possible for the Field Training Officer to exchange information with the F.T.O. supervisor.
|
 |
Instantaneous Real-time Updating:
Once the reports are approved, they are immediately sent to the Field Training Office and available for approved personnel to review.
|
 |
Paperless:
Eliminates cost by saving input hours and material cost for required Field Training Program Reports:
Daily Observation Reports, Recruit Training Guide Checklist, Call
Tracking Log, Remedial Training Plan Worksheet, Officer Safety
Violation Sheet, Report Exemplar Cover Sheet, Daily Observation Report
Tracking Sheet, End of Phase Report, Probationary Evaluation Sheet
(biweekly or monthly).
|
 |
Error Messaging:
In case the Field Training Supervisor finds grammatical errors in the submitted Daily Observation Report, he can highlight the error and input a message to the Field Training Officer in a drop down box. Upon retrieval of the rejected Daily Observation Report by the Field Training Officer,
he will be able to see the highlighted mistake in the narrative. By
simply placing his/her cursor on the highlighted word, the error
message that the Field Training Supervisor wrote will pop-up.
|
 |
Early Warning System:
The system uses the
recruit’s Daily Observation Report’s low scores to detect a
potential problem area that needs to be addressed with additional
training. This is an administrative form that is only accessible to
those individuals as determined by the department.
|
 |
Backup:
No more lost paperwork. All reports generated by the Field Training Officer will be automatically saved to the server. L.E.F.T.A. saves storage space that would otherwise be used by paper reports.
|
 |
Program Security:
Log in is only possible by
authorized individuals and within their security levels assigned by
each individual department. A Field Training Officer might be able to
access previous Daily Observation Reports, but will not be able to
change any data.
|
 |
Electronic (Signature) Approval System:
The Field Training Officer will be able to send the recruit’s Daily Observation Report directly to the Field Training Supervisor
who can either approve it as is or return it to the FTO to make
required changes. Once approved by the Field Training Supervisor the
recruit will acknowledge (password protected) that he has read (not
accepted) the Daily Observation Report. Once the recruit acknowledged
the form, the report will be automatically sent to the Field Training Coordinator.
